After a brief training session, you will skydive from 13000 feet harnessed to a licensed tandem instructor. Freefalling for approximately 1 minute, you will taste adventure you never thought existed! Your instructor will deploy the parachute at about 5000 feet, and you will then enjoy a 5-6 minute parachute flight over Southern California’s stunning scenery. Landing softly in their grassy drop zone in front of your friends and family, you will be presented with a First Jump Certificate to proudly display! This couldn't be more awesome and fun if you have not made the leap before, or even if you have this is something you surly have to do.

For this being a potentially life threatening sport, Skydive San Diego could seriously improve on their organization, information and customer service. Don't get me wrong, the actual dive was excellent, but there were certainly a few things that put a damper on what could have been a life altering experience for me. When we scheduled the appointment, they didn't tell us our Fun Daily Deal was only valid Mon-Fri. Once we arrived there were two workers behind the desk, one of these women who appeared to be doing nothing, told me to wait until the other lady was finished with another customer so she could help me, yet she rudely interrupted when we were being helped by the other lady stating that, "the coupon says RIGHT ON IT that it's not valid Saturday" and then neither of them offered any further suggests to help us. Luckily, my husband was smart enough to ask if we could pay the difference and they agreed (but should have just offered us that to begin with.) We had to pay extra for a video enough it was supposed to be included in our deal and we were charged extra for not paying cash. Again, something they could have told us on the phone BEFORE we arrived. There were no signs posted in regards to pricing (or any info for that matter), so my husband had to ask a lot of questions to figure out what was the best deal for him to do multiple gear rentals. If they would post signs, maybe their employees wouldn't be so bothered to offer information and the customer could just read for themselves. When we requested a certain instructor, the front desk associate seemed annoyed and said, "Well he's a secondary" and no other explanation like we were supposed to know what that meant. Overall, every person working there was so lax (and quite frankly unprofessional) that I was a little nervous for my life. I didn't understand where to go or what to do and there was little to no explanation for anything. I normally wouldn't be so uptight besides the fact that I was jumping out of a plane!
Once I got past the front desk, met my instructor and proceeded with the skydive it was AWESOME! I was very pleased with my instructor and videographer.

…This Lil’ Piggy’s has come to the Ferry Landing in Coronado. November 28th, 2008 marked an exciting day for the Spatafore family of Coronado, with the opening of their fourth restaurant concept in the city. Lil’ Piggy’s was a special project that logged many miles through the Southern states including Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, and of course… Tennessee.

While taking bits and pieces from other bar-b-q havens, Lil’ Piggy’s adopted the Memphis style for its main focus.

Many lessons were learned along the tour, but perhaps the most important is that the really good bar-b-q would still be really good without the sauces. Bar-b-q is a method of cooking, not a style.

But what exactly is Memphis style bar-b-q? The simplest rule is that Memphis, along with the Carolinas, is primarily a pork based meat, where as Texas is mostly beef, and Kansas City is a mixture of both with a lot of sauces.

“Low and slow” means the meats are smoked for hours on low temperatures for extended periods of time. Pure hickory wood is used to flavor and cook the meats. The redness in the meat is a sign of flavor penetration called the “smoke ring.”

Lil’ Piggy’s offers two styles of baby backs: wet and dry. The dry version is “dry” rubbed, then smoked low and slow, with sauce served on the side. Wet ribs are smoked the same as dry, but towards the end of the smoking process, sauce is applied, making the meat “wet”. 

Another favorite item the family brought back from Memphis is called “Bar-b-q Nachos.” Fresh tortilla chips are topped with Texas style Rotel queso dip, jalapenos, tomatoes, onions, pulled pork or chicken, and bar-b-q sauce. The heat and sweet really taste great!

I work across from Lil' Piggys BBQ and couldn't wait for the establishment to open. Watching the construction was painful and the dust was unkind turning white shirts into grey. Once construction was completed, it was worth the wait. The ribs are meaty and tender. The pulled pork sandwich with slaw and beans is fantastic. Did I mention the sweet tea? Having lived in the south for 18 years, I must say they mastered the sweet tea!!! I try to have a glass everyday I work. My co worker ate Lil Piggys three days straight for lunch!!! Give it a try! I believe you will enjoy.
